05/20/2015 Class Update

Hey Everyone,

Be prepared as this is one of many emails that will start flooding your inboxes until Alumni Week is pau. Thanks in advance for your understanding!

See the below message that I just posted to our class FB account. I highly encourage everyone to find "Kamehameha Class of 2000" and request to join our group so you can see updates, pics, etc. I won't always be able to send out info through the class email account so following our group will keep you current.

Also, see the exact document given to all the class reps from the Alumni group (attached below).

Posted to FB:

"FYI: The Alumni group is stressing the importance of absolutely NO alcohol at any of the campus events (except for Lu‘au where there will be a booth set up for purchases).

You aren't even allowed to bring in any outside drinks (soda included) except for clear plastic bottles of water.

If caught with outside drinks they will:

1) dump your drink(s) in the trash
2) hold onto your hydroflasks (or other reusable container) until the event is pau & it will be returned to you, and/or
3) escort you off campus

I know this may seem like a bummer but last year's classes really messed up & the higher ups are getting pissy. If any class screws up this year, they may use it as an excuse to NO LONGER HOLD ALUMNI WEEK ON CAMPUS. That would really suck so let's do our part & be respectful of the rules.

***Drinking "reasonable amounts of alcohol" within the dorms (common areas, lounge, kitchen) are ok. NO kegs, awa, drugs, etc."

As always, check out our class website, ks2000.blogspot.com, for the lastest and greatest info and updates. You might even see info about our class T-shirt fundraiser and class night tickets ;-) Just checking to see if you really read this....lol

Aloha,

Kapua

Aloha Classmates,

Once again I'm asking anyone on Oahu this weekend to please come out to help with our Car Wash Fundraiser this Sunday from 8:30am-2:30pm at the KS Terminal. Go to our website for more info and the signup genius link. ks2000.blogspot.com

Taste Menu Update:

Smoked Meat Lu`au with Kalo/Ulu and Ho`i`o is still a GO

Thank you to following classmates:
Jessie Andrade and Scott Kekua for donating all 75lbs of meat we need for our dish.
Kellie (Goo) Kekua for donating the shoyu, garlic, salt and sugar needed.
Melanie Park for donating the onions and ginger.

The following items are still needed. We only have $300 for this dish so any and all items donated would be greatly appreciated! Drop off can be up on campus on Monday 6/1.

Kalo/Ulu - 25lbs
Ho`i`o or Pohole Ferns - 30-40lbs
`Opae - 2-3 bags from Costco (around $15 each)
Seasame Oil - 2 Qts
Best Blend Wesson Oil - 4 Qts
Tomatoes - 50-75 large

Gallon Ziplocs - 2 boxes
Large Foil Pans - 1 pack
Small Foil Pans - 1 pack
Sternos - 1 pack
Heavy Duty Foil - 1 roll

50lbs ice (we need this on Wednesday 6/3)

Kiawe Wood (we actually need as much as possible by Saturday 5/23)

Email me if you'd like to donate a particular item or cash to be used specifically for this dish.

Volunteers are also need to help with the smoking of the meat on Saturday 5/23 at 1pm and 5pm in Papakolea. We don't want Tati and her family stuck doing all this work for us so please email me if you can help out. 1pm shift is for "hooking" the meat and putting them in the smoker. The 5pm shift is to cut and bag the meat (please bring your own cutting boards and knives). Please help us if you're on Oahu!!!

Talent Night:
We will be performing our newly composed class chant and 'Au`a la a hula pahu. If you plan on being on campus for Thursday, 6/4, let me know. We welcome anyone who'd like to learn and participate in this hula.

Class Night:
Dave & Busters Sunset Bar 6pm-10pm. More info coming soon. If anyone has a giftcard, craft item, etc they'd like to donate to our silent auction, please email me!

As Alumni Week draws nearer, I'll be emailing more frequently so sorry in advance if I spam your inbox. Have a great Monday everyone and let me know if you have any questions.
